Rescue Diver!”

It has been another eventful week for Jomtien Dive Center. To begin with we would like to congratulate Vivian on completing her PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course. It was great to have you along for the ride. We all hope you enjoyed your course with us, and we hope you enjoyed your dives down South. We would also like to congratulate Ruth on successfully completing her Emergency First Response and PADI Rescue Diver Course this week. It was a fun few days, during which our Divemaster Dome seemed to be somewhat accident prone, and needed to be rescued a number of times. We hope you enjoyed taking the courses as much as we all love teaching the PADI Rescue Diver course. It’s the favorite for most of the Instructors at Jomtien Dive Center, and it is lots of serious fun. This week Jomtien Dive Center pattaya was fortunate enough to be invited on to the set of an upcoming movie, “Till we meet again”, make sure to keep an eye out for it. Two of our Instructors, Gary and Jeshe, spent the morning in the pool as extras, making it a new and exciting pool experience. We would like to thank the entire crew for inviting us along for the ride, and for welcoming us on set. While the visibility this week may not have been at its best, it did not hinder our divers from finding plenty of interesting things to see. The critters of the week include Turtles, quite a few cute baby Octopi, Seahorses, more mating Cuttlefish, Sting-Rays, and a large school of Barracuda on the H.T.M.S. Kood wreck. The curfew in Pattaya was revoked as of the 5th of June, which means there should be nothing holding you back from having a fun night out with dive-buddies after a great day of diving.Coming up this weekend we have a large group of divers coming down from Bangkok for a weekend of diving and snorkeling with Jomtien Dive Center. So keep an eye on our Facebook page for our latest pictures.latest Padi rescue diver in pattaya“Diver, Diver, I’m a (PADI) Rescue Diver!”

Songkran in Pattaya 2014

Thailand Songkran

Songkran in Thailand is always an exciting time of the year and in Pattaya things can get a little crazy. If you’ve never heard about Songkran it’s the festival celebrating Thai new year celebrated every April. Since Songkran is the hottest time of the year the Thai’s traditionally celebrate by throwing and sprinkling water on each other.

When is Songkran? Songkran is officially celebrater from the 13th to 15th April in throughout Thailand however Pattaya’s party spirit extends this to start around the 11th right through the 19th. By the 18th and 19th the population of Pattaya swells for the party grand finale and travel becomes gridlocked. Jomtien will be only slightly better so plan ahead and leave plenty of time if you need to get anywhere during that period and don’t try to travel on the 19th. April 18 is the Naklua “wan lai” water-throwing festival.

Pattaya Scuba Diving Achievement

Pattaya Scuba Diving

I would personally like to congratulate Mr Larsen on passing his PADI Open Water Course at Jomtien Dive Center PATTAYA, a great achievement at the young age of 69… As the old cliche say’s it’s never too late to start diving. It has not been an easy path, with many difficulties to over come both in the pool and in the ocean. I am so proud of Mr Larsons desire to achieve his goals ….. WELL DONE. Also I would like to say a big thanks to Bandon one of our PADI Instructors for spending the extra time and personal attention over the past few weeks.

Thank you.

Scuba Diving Pattaya

Scuba Diving Pattaya is a great way to learn to scuba dive. Today we were out at Koh Sak, ‘PATTAYA’  visibility has improved incredibly in the last couple of days, it’s amazing when the sun is out and the wind has stopped, Thailand is a beautiful place. It seems like the weather has finally turned and we are now back to warm sunny days for this time of the year.Today we had  a group of Seven Indian Divers on the boat,beginners-scuba-diving-cozumel-mexico-1-300x225It was there first time diving for all the group and they managed to do all the skills and still have a great deal of fun. I still get a great buzz in seeing a group of people entering the underwater for the first time and at the end of the day they have learnt alot and have enjoyed the experience.
